Dr. Richard Gray has been the president of La Salle High School of Pasadena for the last 18 years and has devoted his entire professional career to Catholic education.  During the last thirty-five years, he has served as a teacher, Vice-Principal, Assistant Head of School, Head of School, and President.  Having taught at the middle, secondary, and higher education levels, Dr. Gray’s experience spans the spectrum of private and Catholic education from a residential center for delinquent boys to preschool through 12th grade institutions that included a boarding component.

His undergraduate degree was awarded by Fordham University.  His Ph.D. in Educational Administration was awarded to Dr. Gray by Syracuse University.  His dissertation earned him the Franklin S. Barry Award for outstanding achievement in Educational Administration.

For over 20 years, Dr. Gray has been a frequent conference and workshop presenter; having delivered talks at the Institute for Catholic School Leaders, the National Catholic Educational Association, the Association of Boarding Schools, the National Association of Independent Schools, the California Educational Research Association, the American Evaluation Association, California League of High Schools, and the Lasallian Association of Secondary School Chief Administrators.  In addition to his service as Chair of accrediting committees for the Western Association of Schools and Colleges in seven (arch)dioceses in California and the Pacific Rim, Dr. Gray has conducted numerous programs of in-service for school boards and faculties.

In addition to his membership in the National Catholic Educational Association, the Western Catholic Educational Association, and the Lasallian Association of Secondary School Chief Administrators, Dr. Gray is a member of several national Catholic charitable organizations.  Locally, he currently serves on the school boards of Saint Philip the Apostle and Saint Andrew Schools.

Dr. Gray serves Catholic School Management and its clients as an adjunct consultant in the areas of administrative effectiveness and mentoring, strategic planning, institutional and specialized assessments, and institutional advancement.
